Paintball Uniforms. Paintball Clothing and Protective Gear For Style and Function.
The most important piece of the paintball uniform is the paintball mask. Purchasing a top quality mask is essential. Facial injuries, in particular loss of sight, are a high probability if the face is unprotected or a second rate mask fails. For added protection it is advisable to wear a baseball type hat tucked under the mask. All open skin areas on the body should be covered to reduce the risk of injury. If it's hot it is tempting to wear shorts and t shirts but it is not advised. Paintballs can sting badly and leave significant bruises. Long trousers and long sleeve sweaters or shirts are good for covering the major parts of the body. Besides being thick, they need to be strong to stand up to the rigors of diving, sliding and rolling.
Baggy paintball uniforms are best because they give you greater freedom of movement and make it easier to crouch and sprint. They also absorb the paintball strikes better as they are not tightly stretched around the skin. Cargo pants, especially the baggy ones, make excellent paintball trousers and are cheap to boot. Specialty paintball uniforms are also available.
Purpose designed paintball pants, shirts, chest gear, masks, elbow and knee pads, and footwear are stocked by the top paintball dealers.
To reduce the risk of injury consider adding cloths in layers. Just don't overdo it in hot conditions otherwise you could be overcome by the heat. Leggings, light sweat pants or long johns work well under baggy trousers. For woodsball wear dark clothing or camouflage.
Paintball shoes should dark in color and sturdy for woodsball but a more sneaker like shoe would work better for speedball where more agility is required and camouflage is not an issue.
Avoid paintball uniforms with zippers and metal fasteners since they can scratch or cut you if you dive or roll and land hard.
